The pH levels of your body can fluctuate on a day to day basis, but if your body is having a tough time regulating pH levels on a regular basis, there’s a chance that there’s something bigger going on. While a test can make it very easy for you to see whether or not your pH level is off balance, there are so many signs that your body will show you as well.

In today’s blog post, we’re going to touch on a few of the signs that your body’s pH level is not balanced.

Consuming Processed Foods

of the most common reasons that the body’s pH level is thrown off is due to the consumption of highly processed foods. Not only are these foods loaded with chemicals, but they have tons of sugar in them too! When you put all of this in your body, it’s inevitable that the pH levels would be thrown off.

If you are consuming high levels of processed foods, you can expect to see a spike in your acidity levels. When that happens, bacterial growth and illness follow shortly after — but the trend begins with the quality of foods that you’re putting in your body.

Dehydration

Consuming enough water is excellent for your health on any given day, but it also contributes heavily to your body’s pH balance. Studies have shown that when people become dehydrated, their pH levels shift and create an unhealthy environment within the body. If you’re looking to add a little flavor to your typical glass of water, or add a little more acidity when you do drink water, go ahead and add some citrus!

If you’re not great about drinking enough water a day, consider filling a water bottle that helps you track how much water you’ve had to drink. There are all types of water bottles that make tracking how much you’re drinking fun and this could ultimately decrease the chances of dehydration affecting your pH levels.

High Levels of Stress

As if stress wasn’t hard enough on your body, it could also be affecting your pH levels. Though it may sound surprising, high levels of stress can have the same effect on your body as a poor diet. When left uncared for, stress can do more harm to your body than other elements in your life. For that reason, it’s essential to ensure that you’re managing stress levels and coping in healthy ways that keep your hormones and pH levels from getting out of control.

Lack of Raw Food

Don’t worry — we’re not talking about raw meats or eggs! While it’s not important to consume every day, uncooked foods like salads, fruits, and vegetables are all crucial components to your body being able to maintain it’s pH level. If you’re genuinely interested in helping your body maintain its pH level, it would be extremely beneficial for you to start adding more and more raw foods into your daily nutrition.

Too Little Potassium

We just talked briefly about the benefits of eating raw foods on a regular basis, but what if we told you that there are specific foods that will really help with your pH levels. Well, there are! Foods that are high in potassium are great for your body and for balancing your pH levels. Various food sources are high in potassium and can help you keep your pH in check.

Some of our favorite foods to incorporate into a daily diet are bananas, citrus fruits, potatoes, berries, apple cider vinegar, melons, and pears. With such a large selection of foods to choose from, there’s no reason that you couldn’t incorporate a few raw snacks a day.
