Why is this so?
Calcium is one of the major elements used in maintaining your blood's pH, and consequently the acid-alkaline balance of your entire body.
However, calcium works in concert with the other acid neutralizers, Magnesium, Sodium, Phosphorus, Potassium, Iron, Manganese, Strontium, and Silica. Proper calcium metabolism requires these minerals and co-factors such as Vitamin D3 and Vitamin K2.
Vitamin K2 deficiencies are very prevalent. Vitamin K2 is necessary to activate a substance called osteocalcin that is essential for calcium to be incorporated and stored in bone.
Vitamin K2 also activates another protein called matrix GLA protein (MGP) in soft tissue that is responsible for removing excess calcium that can accumulate in soft tissues such as arteries and veins.
This is significant because consider that about 20% of atherosclerotic plaques are comprised of calcium from the early to more advanced stages of heart disease development. Supplementing calcium alone may even contribute to cardiovascular disease.
Vitamin K2 activated MGP is considered the strongest factor in preventing and possibly even reversing tissue calcification involved in atherosclerosis, as described in the October 2008 issue of Thrombosis and Haemostasis.

Our bodies naturally produce free radicals in metabolic processes, and the antioxidants our bodies naturally produce can typically handle this challenge. Usually this is in balanced.

Wild Bilberry (Vaccinium myritillus) Contains anthocyanosides, which are potent antioxidants that strengthen blood vessels and capillary walls; improve red blood cells; stabilize collagen tissues such as tendons, ligaments and cartilage; and has cholesterol-lowering effects. They also increase retinal pigments that allow the eye to tolerate light.
